Yahoo Fantasy Football ADP: Best PPR Picks

Best value picks on Yahoo by X Rank

Here at Fantasy Football Helper we draft a lot of teams across various platforms, covering numerous types of scoring settings, but 12-team PPR leagues are by far the most common we are asked to participate in. Through the 2nd week of August, we have already drafted 23 One QB 12-team PPR redraft teams, each with a roster setup of 2RB/2WR/2FLEX, 2RB/3WR/2FLEX, or 2RB/2WR/3 FLEX.

Using data from these real redraft leagues, this article will highlight the best 12-team PPR picks on the Yahoo platform based on their consensus ADP. We will be comparing Yahoo ADP to our data (FFH ADP), other major platforms (ESPN, Sleeper, and NFL) and will also be using Fantasy Pros consensus ranks and Underdog ranks as a benchmark to further showcase which players are currently undervalued on Yahoo.

Best PPR Value Picks for Yahoo ADP

By default Yahoo uses 0.5 PPR as their reception scoring setting, which is also used for the mock drafts on their platform. However, the very same ranks are used for their PPR leagues, devaluing pass catchers and creating tons of value at all stages of the draft.

Best Early Round Yahoo Picks

Yahoo’s rankings for the elite tight ends are the lowest you’ll see on any major platform. ESPN has similar rankings with Kelce at 18 and Andrews at 22, while Sleeper ranks Kelce and Andrews 11th and 19th, and NFL ranks Andrews 12th and Kelce 14th.

Kelce is a 1st round pick according to both Fantasy Pros consensus rankings and Underdog, and is the 13th player taken in our drafts. If you exclude our Yahoo league drafts, Kelce has an ADP just above 13, while his ADP is above 17 in our yahoo drafts. Kelce is a first round talent who is a perfectly fine pick at the round 1/2 turn, but if you’re able to get him in the middle of the 2nd to pair with a top 10 talent, you’ve already increased your win probability and should be in the early lead.

Similarly to Kelce, our Mark Andrews ADP is slightly inflated due to our Yahoo drafts. We are seeing Andrews taken near the round 2/3 turn on Yahoo but has an ADP around 19 elsewhere. Our data is right in-line with Fantasy Pros and Underdog, making Andrews a slight value in the 2nd round. If he falls to you at the end of the 2nd, you should take him.

Lastly we have an elite tight end who may be a 1st round pick at this time next year. Kyle Pitts already has league winning upside in his range of outcomes at his early-mid 3rd round ADP but getting him in the 4th round is an auto-smash pick. Even if you’re someone who likes to wait on a tight end, we don’t recommend passing on Pitts at this price. You won’t find him cheaper anywhere else as he’s ranked 29th on Sleeper, 34th on NFL, and 38th on ESPN.

Best Middle Round Yahoo Picks

The late round QB strategy has become increasingly popular and for good reason, but getting a full round discount on a potential MVP who could be the #1 scorer in all of fantasy? That’s too much to pass up. Our ADP is right in-line with Fantasy Pros and Underdog which is actually quite low compared to the major platforms. ESPN, Sleeper, and NFL all have Herbert ranked 35 or better.

Next are a trio of wide receivers (Michael Thomas, Chris Godwin, and DeAndre Hopkins) who no doubt have some risks but also massive upside. However, due to Yahoo’s poor rankings of these players, these picks become much less risky, instead creating a ton of value. We especially love Chris Godwin who should be picked early in the 6th round of fantasy drafts but we’ve seen him slip to the end of the 7th on numerous occasions. Our Yahoo drafts also have Thomas and Hopkins going about 12 picks later than average compared to our ADP data.

Lastly we have Adam Thielen who seems to be undervalued every single season. Why should this year be any different? It seems drafters in 2022 have finally caught on because despite this low Yahoo ranking of 85, we’re actually seeing Thielen being reached for in the 6th round on all platforms, not just Yahoo. Our data across these 23 drafts has Thielen with an ADP of 68.74, despite Yahoo, ESPN, and Sleeper all having him ranked 74 or worse. Keep an eye on him during your Yahoo drafts and feel comfortable taking him in the 6th.

Best Late Round Yahoo Picks

Best late round picks on Yahoo by ADP

The late round strategy in Yahoo PPR leagues is very simple – draft rookie wide receivers. The chart above highlights the five values we like the best but even rookies like Tolbert, Dotson, Pickens, and Watson are ranked far too low. Once you get to rounds 10+ in your fantasy drafts, you should be aiming for as much upside as possible. On Yahoo, you won’t find better potential upside in the late rounds than these 1st round wide receivers and the 2nd round pick tied to Patrick Mahomes.

We’re seeing all rookie wide receivers drafted anywhere from 10 picks lower than average (Drake London and Skyy Moore), to 25 picks lower than average (Garret Wilson and Treylon Burks). If your draft room isn’t seeking these players and putting them in their queue, they will be buried by Yahoo’s egregious ‘X Rank’, giving you the potential league winning upside you need late in the draft.
